Last Saturday my family members and I had our reunion at PJ Hilton, Paya Serai. At one time this place was riding high with their high teas.
Other than the good time we had chatting and laughing; the food was alright only. The satay sauce was shoik, spread was not exciting. No cold cuts, all very asian style; dim sum, rojak, lontong, nasi lemak, roti jala and all the curries. Western was the salad and bread. Dessert section was kuihs and mini cakes. Teh-Tarik and nescafe was good.
We were given a nice spot but we were roasting in that spot! The air-cond had gone kaput; it took a labour day holiday too!! Due to that, the kind supervisor gave us a discount of 20% on the overall bill. Since there were 10 of us, it was a reasonable amount to pay.
Will I go back? Maybe yea but hopefully they spruce up their spread la. So I guess I will give PJ Hilton a miss for a long time before visiting again.
The hotel area was a bit run-down thought (couldn't help noticing la!)

Today's Pick; Lorong Seratus Tahun, PJ SS2
My cousins and I decided to go for late lunch. Its was like a farewell luncheon la. One of my cousin sister is off to New Zealand so I thought ok come we go somewhere we get chinese, penangy food. This restaurant is one such restaurant!
We ordered, Chendol, Ice Kacang, 2 fresh apple/umbra juices for drinks. Food were Mamak Mee-Hoon, Curry Mee (their signature dish), home-made tafu and fruit rojak. All cost about RM65.00 Portions were reasonable. Ambience, nothing to shout about. They had just given it a face-lift. The last time I was there it was probably one year ago!
Food, my cousin sister thought the curry mee was not that great. My mamak meehoon was not bad, spicy but lacked the umph! Tofu, soft like a baby's bottom! Fried crisp outside but soft inside. Taste.....nice but nothing to shout about. Ice Kacang with ice cream ..creamy but no taste. The fruit juice was SHIOK!! A real perker! Fruit rojak utter disappointment!
On the whole, we had a good time chatting and getting together. Food wise, I felt let down cos it used to be very nice and tasty la. Will I go there again. No, sorry.
Hey...this is my personal opinion ok. If you want, try it out and let me know.

Why did I start it?
You know there are days when someone asks you, "So what do you think of this or that restaurant?" and your mind goes.......BLANK. What do I say? Half the time I tell them "hey...its not home cooking la so dont expect much!"
Not that I am a excellent cook! No sirree, I am average but I like to try dishes. Some end up so bad I throw it away before my husband finds about it or if its passable, it goes onto the table. So who am I to judge the restaurant or the food that they serve? I am no one!
You see we just opened office in the district of Solaris Mont Kiara, this district is FULL OF RESTAURANTS!! They have japanese, korean, balinese, thai, italian, you name it la! Come lunch time, we have this problem....what to eat and where to go? Today same thing, but I noticed not only both of us but our co-lift patrons had the same problem!! Wallah, I thought hmm...why not I start this restaurant review la. I am going to robe my brother (if you know him, you can sure know why I robed him in) to help me with this pet project.
Feel free to share your comments and if I can I will take shots of the restaurant. Don't sue me ok...its just my pet project!
